Mrs. Tomeka L. Ward-Satterfield is a veteran educator having served as EC Teacher Assistant, EC Teacher, School Counselor, and Assistant Principal in Durham and Alamance counties before finding a home in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School district. Most recently, she spent the last six years as an Assistant Principal at East Chapel Hill High.

Born and bred in Edenton, North Carolina, she is the only child of Ms. Frances A. Ward. Her mother is her role model, cheerleader and trusted adviser. 

 Mrs. Ward-Satterfield has been married to her high school sweetheart for 16 years. Daron D. Satterfield is an attorney with a private practice, Nichols & Satterfield, PLLC, in Durham, NC. Her husband is her rock. His drive and commitment to their family allow her to pursue her personal and professional goals without reservation. They have one awesome child, Darius. 

Mrs. Ward-Satterfield received both undergraduate and graduate degrees from North Carolina Central University and a certification in school administration from UNC-Chapel Hill. While away from school, she is active   in her church family, cheering sideline at her son’s soccer games, shopping for a great bargain, and supporting her beloved NCCU Eagles.
